THE INCREDIBLE SAGA BEGINS!!

joker_ver2.JPG
JOKER (R)
"Joker" centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original,
standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips'
exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix,
is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham's fractured society. A
clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night...but
finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence
between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about
a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

SAT: (2:00) - (5:00) - 8:00

FALL IN LOVE WITH A MUSIC LEGEND.AGAIN!!

HELD-OVER!!!
THE HIGHLY-ACCLAIMED LINDA RONSTADT DOCUMENTARY!!

linda_ronstadt_the_sound_of_my_voice.JPG
LINDA RONSTADT: The Sound of My Voice (PG13)
LINDA RONSTADT: The Sound of My Voice is a musical biography of one of the
most successful and versatile female singers of the 20th century -- and one
of the most successful recording artists of all time. At the height of
unprecedented success, Ronstadt, a restless and adventurous artist, turned
away from pop music to explore an astonishing variety of musical styles,
from American standards to country to classical operetta before circling
back to her family roots with traditional Mexican canciones. Withstanding
constant pressure from a risk-averse industry, Linda insisted on following
her musical instincts. Today Ronstadt has Parkinson's disease and her
magnificent singing voice has been silenced. But rather than letting that
voice be lost to history, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice tells
Linda's story through her own words and music, and by such professional
colleagues as Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne,
Aaron Neville among many others.

LINDA RONSTADT: The Sound of My Voice (PG13)
FRI: (4:00) - 7:00
SAT: (1:00) - (4:00) - 7:00
SUN: (1:00) - (4:00)
MON, TUES, WED: 6:30 (DEFINITELY ENDS WEDNESDAY!!)

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO
Oh, the agony of only having 3 screens!!
Sometimes, we have to make Solomon-like programming decisions and hope they
are the right ones.
Sometimes they are.
Sometimes they aren't.

This week, we had to decide whether to hold DOWNTON ABBEY for a FOURTH WEEK
(rare for us) or to hold the wonderful documentary LINDA RONSTADT: The Sound
of My Voice for a 2nd week.
To compound that: Everyone LOVES the Linda Ronstadt movie!
(Everyone LOVED Downton Abbey too, but its playing all over the region, and
LINDA is an EXCLUSIVE for us.)
So, what to do?
Well, when Linda did twice the attendance of Downton in this week's Tightwad
Tuesday, we had our answer.

So, you've got one more week to fall in love with a music legend again!
Its easy to forget what a staggering talent she was until its right there in
front of you.
(I say "was", because, while still alive, she can't sing any longer as that
powerful voice has been silenced by Parkinson's disease. Such a tragedy!)
It's a great movie, and will stay with you for a long time.

Many I know are digging out their Linda records again! (Some have never put
them away!)
