WANDERLUST (R)
George (Rudd) and Linda (Aniston) are an overextended, stressed out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, they find themselves with only one option: to move in with George's awful brother in Atlanta. On the way there, George and Linda stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colorful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things. Money? It can't buy happiness. Careers? Who needs them? Clothes? Only if you want them. Is Elysium the fresh start George and Linda need? Or will the change of perspective cause more problems than it solves? ENDS SUNDAY!!

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO
So, how did you like the Oscars?
Frankly, I am glad they are over and we can get back to the regular movie business!
I thought the show was pretty fast-paced (compared to previous years and the siege of Troy), and it was a welcome sight to see Billy Crystal back.
(I couldn't help feeling nostalgic for Bob Hope or Johnny Carson, but someday I'll be nostalgic for Billy Crystal!).

To be sure, there were NO "surprises". NO "upsets".
It was a shame that only 2 songs were nominated when there were many more worthy of it.

AND...
Even though I admired THE ARTIST so much, and feel that SO MANY OF YOU were wrong in being reluctant to see it, still MY favorite of the films nominated was WAR HORSE.
I even thought John Williams' wonderful music score of WAR HORSE should have won over THE ARTIST.
(Honestly, my favorite part of THE ARTIST's score was the segment cribbed from Bernard Herrmann's masterful score for VERTIGO---so there!)

But, what can I say? Harvey Weinstein was in classic form with not one, not two, but FOUR Oscar contenders (the winning documentary UNDEFEATED was a Weinstein film too!).

Harvey Weinstein personifies the old-style Hollywood mogul, in every sense of the term.

Now, let's be done with the Oscars until next year!
