And the movie floodgates start to open!
The annual late summer/early fall slowdown ('dead zone') seems to be a
construction of the movie studios themselves. It's like if a movie is not
thought to have much viability, "release it in September".
The problem in that plan is, a lot of good movies go unseen by audiences
with too many distractions (back to school, homecomings, football etc) to
venture to the theaters.

We've griped about this for 20 years now, and it doesn't seem to get any
better.
The 'other' slow season is the late March/early April frame, but the studios
actually seem to be doing something about that by releasing some prime films
in that section.

But, late summer / early Fall remains a problem!

Now, we are entering the 4th quarter when Hollywood trots all of their Oscar
award hopefuls out. There is already huge Oscar buzz for "A Star is Born",
and the recent film festivals are calling the upcoming "First Man" an Oscar
contender as well!

We will see many more good movies between now and New Year's Day, as what is
the prime season for the movie biz begins!

I can hardly wait! There are some really good things coming very soon, and
coming a bit later too!
