GOING IN STYLE (PG13) 
Oscar winners Morgan Freeman ("Million Dollar Baby"), Michael Caine ("The
Cider House Rules," "Hannah and Her Sisters") and Alan Arkin ("Little Miss
Sunshine") team up as lifelong buddies Willie, Joe and Al, who decide to
buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in
their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty, in
director Zach Braff's comedy "Going in Style." Desperate to pay the bills
and come through for their loved ones, the three risk it all by embarking on
a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money.

THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE (PG13) 
The real-life story of one working wife and mother who became a hero to
hundreds during World War II. In 1939 Poland, Antonina Żabińska (portrayed
by two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain) and her husband, Dr. Jan
Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh of "The Broken Circle Breakdown"), have the
Warsaw Zoo flourishing under his stewardship and her care. When their
country is invaded by the Germans, Jan and Antonina are stunned - and forced
to report to the Reich's newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (Daniel
Brühl of "Captain America: Civil War"). To fight back on their own terms,
Antonina and Jan covertly begin working with the Resistance - and put into
action plans to save lives out of what has become the Warsaw Ghetto, with
Antonina putting herself and even her children at great risk.

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO

Not much to rant, rave and ramble about this week, folks!
I'm very pleased to see those "Avon movies" like GOING IN STYLE and THE
ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE start to come back in, as we look at the beginning of the
summer movie season and all the "popcorn pictures" that will dominate until
Fall.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Our many long-term patrons will start to see a couple familiar faces soon,
as two of our veteran staffers return on a limited basis.
Hannah Elliott, who was with us for TEN YEARS, and left us last year because
of her commitments at her full-time job, has missed us so much, she will
return for a few days each month.
The same is true with Bridget Spitzer, who had been with us for FIVE YEARS,
but will come back to good ol' Avonia for 3 or 4 days a month, as her
schedule allows.
Both of these wonderful young women were at "management level" with us.
I missed these two like crazy (as I miss any of our departed long-term
staffers) and am overjoyed to see them back at the Avon,  if even on a
limited basis. 
Plus, their returning will give my poor over-worked wife a break from doing
double-duty with her job at The Old Book Barn, AND being "Mrs. Head Honcho"
at The Avon (which is a stressful enough job by itself!)

Make sure you say "Welcome Back" to Hannah or Bridget when you see them.

The Summer film classes are in the planning stages. The movies are starting
to be chosen, and we are looking forward to our most popular class:
"OVERLOOKED FILMS". We lost track a long time ago, but I think this is the
17th year for "OVERLOOKED FILMS", if it's not 17 its darn near to it; maybe
16.
We always do "OVERLOOKED FILMS" in the summer, and classes start June 15th.
You can pick up enrollment form flyers in mid-May.
