Director Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants) takes the helm for this black and white road trip drama starring Bruce Dern as a tempestuous Missouri father who's convinced he's won a million dollar magazine sweepstakes, and Will Forte as the son who grudgingly agrees to drive him to Nebraska to claim his winnings. Bob Odenkirk and Stacy Keach costar.
Elegant in its simplicity and poetic in its message, Nebraska adds another stirringly resonant chapter to Alexander Payne's remarkable filmography.

Based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, PHILOMENA focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (Dench), mother to a boy conceived out of wedlock - something her Irish-Catholic community didn't have the highest opinion of - and given away for adoption in the United States. In following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn't allow for any sort of inquiry into the son's whereabouts. After starting a family years later in England and, for the most part, moving on with her life, Lee meets Sixsmith (Coogan), a BBC reporter with whom she decides to discover her long-lost son.
Based on a powerful true story and led by note-perfect performances from Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, Philomena offers a profoundly affecting drama for adult filmgoers of all ages.

"Labor Day" centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

THE AVON WINS #1 DECATUR AREA "BEST MOVIE THEATER" FOR THE 9th YEAR IN A ROW!! 
That's right, folks!
Its "official", and the certificate has already been delivered to us and framed in the Avon box-office!
The Decatur Herald & Review hasn't announced it yet, but why wait until February to see the results of YOU voting for us??
(There'll be plenty of other category winners to see when the 'Reader's Choice' supplement comes out in February!)
Sooooooo, thankya, thankya, thankya!!

Its a heady thrill to have won this #1 slot for all these years.
A whole lot of dedicated people helped make this happen, and I know the #1 award is more for THEM then it is for ME.
I am very blessed to have such a fabulous staff of family and wonderful others!!!

On the right: BRYNNA BERGIN (AVON THEATER TEAM LEADER), who has worked for us since she was 15!!
