Its remarkable to think that these astounding adventure tales by Tarzan author Edgar Rice Burroughs are only now seeing life on the cinema screen!
They were written 100 years ago!
Truth be told, we really haven't had the technology to do them justice until recent years.

>From filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes John Carter-a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). John Carter is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO
Back among the living! (Or at least as close as I can come!)
Something grabbed a hold of me last week, and I have been wrestling with some whatsis of flu and cold and all-around, kick your butt, feel lousy for the entire 7 days!
With the weather being so beautiful, it really made me more frustrated to have to stay in bed and ride this out!

I kept thinking: "I have to be the Grand Marshall of the Decatur St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, the 17th, and what if I'm still sick?"

{All these visions of the ending of one of my favorite movies, EL CID, came to mind, wherein Charlton Heston ---as the legendary hero of medieval Spain, El Cid--- was strapped on his horse after he was dead, to lead his men into one last furious battle!}

Well, I don't think its going to come to that!
The fact you are reading this newsletter, and that I will be teaching my Richland-at-the-Avon film class tonight, can attest to the fact that I am upright and conscious.
Still a bit woozy, but...MOBILE at least!

This is a nasty time for airborne viruses and insidious spores of awfulness that are the result of this dry and unnaturally mild winter.
