PEOPLE LIKE US  (PG13)
>From DreamWorks Pictures comes People Like Us, a drama/comedy about family, inspired by true events, starring Chris Pine as Sam, a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, whose latest deal collapses on the day he learns that his father has suddenly died. Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father's estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family. In the course of fulfilling his father's last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside down: He has a 30-year-old sister Frankie whom he never knew about (Elizabeth Banks). As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about his family-and re-examine his own life choices in the process.

BRAVE  (PG)
Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

MOONRISE KINGDOM(PG13)
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore -- and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl's parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO
Have you noticed there are almost NO theater ads any longer in the Decatur Herald & Review?
The Avon Theater currently continues to advertise movies on Friday and Saturday, and the only other one to do so is the Clinton theater, who now advertises only on Friday.

I am told this elimination of theater print media advertising is a "national trend", yet I do see some ads in other city's newspapers...
-Just not that many in the Decatur Herald & Review.

Why do YOU think this is?

I have my own ideas about why this is, but they may be too colored by subjectivity...


So, I am asking all of you this:

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR AVON THEATER SHOWTIME INFORMATION?

>From the internet sites? (Yahoo, or Google or whatever)
>From our newsletter?
>From our phone hotline? (217-422-8151)
>From FaceBook listings?
>From the Decatur Herald & Review on Fridays & Saturdays?

I know there are some of you who thank us for continuing to list showtimes in the local Herald & Review, but whether there are enough of you who use that as your sole source of showtime and movie information to justify the surprisingly high costs is the big question.

Please let me know, as I am still "on-the-fence" about this subject, and want to see how YOU feel.
