of you who can't believe anyone else but Peter Sellars could play Inspector
Clouseau, I have news for you: Peter Sellars was NOT the only person to play

my film class students, but here goes: Who else, besides Peter Sellars and

you read the correctly) and...can there by any more??? (Answer: Yes). Bring your
sweetie to the movies or just bring yourself; whatever you do you are going to
have a great time with this filmed adaptation of the best-selling novel. The
perfect Valentine's Day at the

and it does take some quick thinking at times to know exactly where you

look back at this time of year and see me always wax nostalgic about the
anniversary of The Avon Theatre's
fantastic resurrection...</STRONG></FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3><STRONG>---In 1999, The
Avon had been closed for a long time.</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3><STRONG>It was cold and abandoned,
lifeless as the Winter woods...</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3><STRONG>I was only too
painfully aware as to how various projects to bring old theaters back
to life had<EM> floundered</EM> more than they had <EM>succeeded</EM>, and
yet...</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3><STRONG>I had a "feeling" the old
Avon Theatre, where I had seen many movies as kid, was not yet ready to end its
days.</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3>I got the keys just after
Valentine's Day of 1999, and a group of some 15 or 16 volunteers joined me
for the next 6 solid weeks in cleaning, sprucing, repairing, painting and
dreaming. </FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3><EM>Mostly
dreaming.</EM></FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><EM><FONT face=Arial color=#800080
size=3></FONT></EM></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3>We went against the tide of
every business advisor and prognosticator in the city.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3>NO ONE THOUGHT IT WOULD
WORK!<BR>-Even some of our good friends gave us "6 months,
tops"...</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT size=3><FONT face=Arial><FONT color=#800080>(The not-such
friends---<EM>you know who you are</EM>--- gave us <U>far less than
that.)</U></FONT></FONT></FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3>We did not have the luxury of
<U>grants and donations</U>, and there was no bank in town that would have lent
us a penny on the project...</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3><U><EM>BUT, WE DIDN'T NEED
THEM!</EM></U></FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT size=3><FONT face=Arial><FONT color=#800080><U>We worked
hard</U>, and did everything the way we <U>thought</U> it <EM>should </EM>be
done, and <U>not</U> the way it had <EM>"always been
done".</EM></FONT></FONT></FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3>That was 10 years ago, and
the rest is history.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>

<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=3>God loves the
Avon.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>

prominent local business leader once said to me: "God MUST love the Avon,
because there is NO OTHER EXPLANATION!")---<BR><BR></EM>---Except the power of
