THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN (PG13)
THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN is based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Robert
Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an
unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the
public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck),
who becomes captivated with Forrest's commitment to his craft, and a woman
(Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession.  

Critics Consensus: A well-told story brought to life by a beautifully
matched cast, The Old Man & the Gun is pure, easygoing entertainment for
film fans - and a fitting farewell to a legend.

In this new take on the tragic love story, Bradley Cooper plays seasoned
musician Jackson Maine, who discovers--and falls in love with--struggling
artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big
as a singer... until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally's
career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down,
as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
Critics Consensus: With appealing leads, deft direction, and an affecting
love story, A Star Is Born is a remake done right -- and a reminder that
some stories can be just as effective in the retelling.

based on the novel by Patrick deWitt, THE SISTERS BROTHERS is a reimagining
of the cinematic Western as a dangerous, witty, and emotionally cathartic
exploration of what it means to be a man. It is 1851, and Charlie and Eli
Sisters (Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly) are both brothers and
assassins, boys grown to men in a savage and hostile world. They have blood
on their hands: that of criminals, that of innocents...and they know no
state of existence other than being gunmen.  
Critics Consensus: The Sisters Brothers rides familiar genre trails in
occasionally unexpected ways - a satisfying journey further elevated by its
well-matched leading men.

who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land
of Sweets.

songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury's lifestyle
spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid,
where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of
the greatest performances in the history of rock music.

So, as you have no doubt gathered, we survived another October Midnight
ROCKY HORROR weekend. Barely.
It was great fun, and we had hundreds at each night's performance.
Now, it's over for another year.
As we move into the MDSO's live performance (see below) that is coming up,
we look forward to a wonderful holiday season. MANY great new movies!
Its said to be a mild winter, and one can only hope!

with the Avon, brings you an unforgettable experience! See Charlie Chaplin's
silent 1921 masterpiece THE KID with LIVE accompaniment by the MDSO with
Maestro Sergey Bogza conducting.
There will be TWO shows on Sat., Nov. 3rd. One at 2:00 and the other at 7:30

Tickets are NOT available through the Avon.
