WOMAN IN GOLD is the remarkable true story of one woman's journey to reclaim
her heritage and seek justice for what happened to her family. Sixty years
after she fled Vienna during World War II, an elderly Jewish woman, Maria
Altmann (Mirren), starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized
by the Nazis, among them Klimt's famous painting 'Portrait of Adele
Bloch-Bauer I'. Together with her inexperienced but plucky young lawyer
Randy Schoenberg (Reynolds), she embarks upon a major battle which takes
them all the way to the heart of the Austrian establishment and the U.S.
Supreme Court, and forces her to confront difficult truths about the past
along the way.

Noah Boaumbach's comedy While We're Young stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts
as Josh and Cornelia, a childless New York married couple in their
mid-forties. As their other friends all start having children, the couple
gravitates toward a young hipster couple named Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby
(Amanda Seyfried). He's an aspiring documentary filmmaker, a vocation Josh
already has. Soon the older couple begins enjoying the energy they feel
haging out with the younger generation, but eventually Josh begins to
suspect his new best friend might not be as straightforward and trustworthy
as he thought. While We're Young screened at the 2014 Toronto International
Film Festival.

Poignant and piercingly honest, While We're Young finds writer-director Noah
Baumbach delivering some of his funniest lines through some of his most
relatable characters.

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO

Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Del's Popcorn Shop, which
was damaged in a fire last week.

Del's is a "Decatur Institution", just like Krekel's and The Avon Theater,
and has been a positive force in our community for decades. They'll be back
in a few months, hopefully!

If you are wondering what is the deal with our Sunday night shows, it's just
a sign of the seasonal change. In this interim period before full-blown
Spring and early Summer, sometimes we have a third set of shows on Sunday,
and.sometimes we don't! (This week we don't). Always check the week's
listings. As we get further into May, we'll start making Sunday 3rd sets our
normal schedule until Fall. So, now that mystery is cleared up.

Remember, you can always come in just to buy popcorn in either of our
lobbies. People do it all the time, and you don't have to feel weird about
it. Just walk in!

The best source of info on sales and promotions at the The Avon is our great
FaceBook page. There are deals listed there sometimes that NEVER make it to
the newsletter. Just click on the FaceBook link up there at the top of this
newsletter, and go right to it.

Something that we need to clarify is this: Unlike MOST other theaters, we
administer our website, newsletter, and FaceBook page OURSELVES! The number
of theaters who "farm-out" their website work is, frankly, astounding. This
could be why some other theater websites all look kind of slickly generic.
Ours is funky and hyperbolic, but, hey, that's  all us!

Remember that THE AVON doesn't do those 20-30 minutes of commercials those
"other guys" are infamous for. With us, you got about 10-12 minutes of
Coming Attractions (including about 3 min of LOCAL ads) and we go right into
the feature.
So many first-timers come late to the show thinking we are like the rest. We
are NOT like the rest! (There's an understatement!).
