The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. THE MILLION DOLLAR ARM (PG)   Comedy/ family 2 hr 4 min  (not including 8 to 12 min of previews)

Based on a true story, Disney's "Million Dollar Arm" follows JB Bernstein, a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors. He and his partner Aash (Aasif Mandvi) will have to close their business down for good if JB doesn't come up with something fast. Late one night, while watching cricket being played in India on TV, JB comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation? Setting off for Mumbai with nothing but a gifted but cantankerous scout (Alan Arkin) in tow, JB stages a televised, nationwide competition called "Million Dollar Arm" where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two 18-year-old finalists, Rinku and Dinesh (Suraj Sharma, Madhur Mittal), emerge as winners. JB brings them back to the United States to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House (Bill Paxton). The goal: get the boys signed to a major league team.
A PERSONAL NOTE FROM SKIP: Hiya, Folks! Are you looking for a wonderful "Avon movie" to bring the whole family to this holiday weekend? This is IT!! There is not one single person who has not liked this movie! Don't be afraid to take a chance here, and don't worry about what any of the negative brain-dead critics say! (In fact, most of the reviews are positive!). THIS IS A GOOD'UN!!

Ok, so its Memorial Day weekend, and considered to be one of the biggest summer holiday movie-going weekends!
We've got just about everything you could want this weekend, with the biggest installment yet in the very popular X-MEN series, and then a rompin, stompin giant monster movie in GODZILLA (which, believe it or not, is a really good movie that all ages have had fun with), and there's a stand-up-and-cheer family movie MILLION DOLLAR ARM, that our patrons really like! Try them all!!
We've extended our FRI thru MON showtimes so you can squeeze us in between picnics, and family get-togethers.

Someone said the other day that out-of-town visitors are always urged to visit Krekel's, Del's, and...THE AVON!!
And I am so proud to be included in that Decatur iconography!

If you haven't signed-up for my Summer "Overlooked Films" classes, you should think about doing it soon!
Classes start on Thursday, June 12th at 6:30 (at the Avon) and go every Thursday until July 31st.
