Based on true events, Argo chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis-the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA "exfiltration" specialist named Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent, stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. The father of one of the kidnappers has sworn revenge and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul. Bryan enlists his daughter to help them escape.

The first installment of this story was a surprise hit a couple years ago, and now all the same people are back to thrill you again!

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO

And so it begins!
The time of the movie year when the floodgates open and we are faced with sometimes brutal choices on what to play, and what not to play on our 3 screens!
The "McTheaters" have it so easy this time of year; with their gazillion screens they can play just about anything! (Unless we have an "exclusive" on it, that is!).
But, we are faced with fielding constant questions about "why aren't you playing this?" that can be very frustrating.

I've said it before here: Don't worry about what we are NOT playing, just please support what we ARE playing!

It doesn't work where we can bring something in for a few days, then bring something else, etc., etc.
Once we commit to play a film, unless there is a prior deal made, we are stuck with it for at least 2 weeks.

So, do the math: 3 screens x at least 2 weeks.
You see how tough it is to program just 3 screens during the Holiday and Summer season when the great films are coming hot and heavy?

So, we try to make the "right" choices, but, sometimes, we don't!

And, sometimes, people get particularly nasty when we aren't playing what they think we should!
(Understand, something like that happens very rarely face-to-face with me; it is usually cowardly emails or moronic posts on our FaceBook page...)

But, please be assured I know who our customer base is, and I try to always keep that in mind when booking films.
But, sometimes, we are going to have to skip something simply because....we only have 3 screens!

(And, if its really something we are sorry we skipped in retrospect, we will bring it in about 3-4 weeks later; but that is not always something you can depend on).

Anyway...this week, we are proud to have two Oscar-touted films in ARGO and THE MASTER, but we are already hearing why aren't we playing more horror films for Halloween!!
>We have two FREE Halloween movies on the 19th and 20th.
>We have our annual ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW costume bash on the 26th and 27th at MIDNIGHT!
>We are the headquarters for the Haunted Decatur Tours.
I think we are doing enough for Halloween!

You just can't please 'em all!
I'll settle for just pleasing some!
