The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries....but they may have a tougher time than they thought!!

Ok, Avon Theater fans, just like last summer when we lifted you out of your late-summer doldrums with THE HELP, here we come again with just what the doctor ordered for "our" people!

No, not a caped crusader, or spandex-wearing fanboy idol in sight! 
-Not even some over-priced and over-hyped 3D baloney; just solid entertainment for the audience segment Hollywood seems to have forgot!

When you have MERYL STREEP and TOMMY LEE JONES as a long-time married couple trying to get the 'spark' back in their relationship, and STEVE CARELL as the therapist trying to help them, you can't find a better mixture for laughs and fun!

The reviews on this are EXCELLENT, and its the perfect "Avon movie"!!

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO
Wow...HOPE SPRINGS!!
Its always a bit humbling when the ancient-but-still-vital Avon Theater flexes its muscles and shows the competition what a tough old bird it still is!
AND...what happened last weekend with HOPE SPRINGS could NOT have happened if YOU were not aboard too! 

So, here's what happened:
Our ticket sales for HOPE SPRINGS were so much better than the other 2 theaters that are showing it in the area, we not only TOPPED them both, BUT...WE TOPPED THEM BOTH COMBINED!!

Now, let's not say that hasn't happened before...
When its a movie that really fits The Avon, those "McTheaters" find it very difficult to stand up to us!
BUT...THIS FANNY-THUMPIN' HAPPENED THE WHOLE WEEKEND!!
YUP!
FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY!!
Outgrossing BOTH the venues of the competition all-weekend-long COMBINED!
AND>>>(wait for it).... WE WERE ALSO THE TOP SCREEN IN TOWN!!!!!

THAT, my fellow Avonians, is UNPRECEDENTED!!

AND, IT'S ALL THANKS TO YOU!!!

The grown-ups of the nation's movie-goers have been absolutely ravenous for a movie that is tailored to THEM!!
HOPE SPRINGS is the movie for those grown-ups!
And, THE AVON THEATER is the theater for grown-ups!!

I just feel sorry for those poor souls who live in other cities and towns and have nothing like THE AVON and thus are at the mercy of those "McTheaters"!!
Be thankful you live in Decatur and are an AVONIAN!!
