Ok, Avon Theater fans, just like last summer when we lifted you out of your late-summer doldrums with THE HELP, here we come again with just what the doctor ordered for "our" people!

No, not a caped crusader, or spandex-wearing fanboy idol in sight! 
-Not even some over-priced and over-hyped 3D baloney; just solid entertainment for the audience segment Hollywood seems to have forgot!

When you have MERYL STREEP and TOMMY LEE JONES as a long-time married couple trying to get the 'spark' back in their relationship, and STEVE CARELL as the therapist trying to help them, you can't find a better mixture for laughs and fun!

The reviews on this are EXCELLENT, and its the perfect "Avon movie"!!

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles. -- (C) Universal

RANTS, RAVES & RAMBLINGS FROM THE HEAD HONCHO

So, this late summer scenario has always been interesting for me...

-The lawns have all burned up (or gone into hibernation---except in THIS sweltering summer the lawns went into hiding several weeks ago!)

-Decatur Celebration is OVER, and downtown is magically transformed back into its pre-Celebration state for another year.

-Several of our wonderful Avon girls are leaving for college, prompting the series of "hellos & goodbyes" that always accompany... 
"Hello" to a crop of promising new girls, and "goodbye" to some of the faces you've seen behind our counters for many years. Bittersweet? Absolutely!

-I know it sounds like it will never happen this year, but we will start to see the advent of Fall pretty soon.
----> THEN, comes a dreaded (to me) WINTER!

But, let's not worry about it now.
We've got a great line-up of new films, with more coming.
