UP (PG) So here is a rare opportunity to see this fabulous film when it is not going to cost you and arm and a leg just to wear ill-fitting 3-D glasses that cause headaches and eyestrain on some, and definitely severe cramps in your wallet!
The most recent 3-D fad enables certain theaters to add a surcharge to ALL tickets!! In the case of the "other guys" this is as high as $3 ON TOP of their regular ticket price! (What a bite for big families!)
So, we kept hearing how great this movie was, and why didn't we bring it back in a NON-3-D presentation at "popular prices"???
So, here it is! One of the best movies of the year!
UP  (PG)
(Showtimes in brackets are $5.75 'Bargain Matinees")
FRI: (4:00) - 7:00
SAT & SUN: (1:00) - (4:00) - 7:00
MON thru THURS: 7:15
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
WHATEVER WORKS (PG13) Larry David and an incredible cast featuring Evan Rachel Wood and Patricia Clarkson in this newest outing from director Woody Allen. Those of you who have been waiting for this, no other words are necessary.
For those of you who have seen the preview, you know this is going to be a really funny one!
Woody Allen is one of our greatest living filmmakers, and he is so prolific he is bound to have some duds every once in a while; but this is NOT one of them! Great laughs with wit and intelligence! That's a rare mix these days!
WHATEVER WORKS (PG13)
 (Showtimes in brackets are $5.75 'Bargain Matinees")
FRI: (5:00) - 8:00
SAT & SUN: (2:00) - (5:00) - 8:00
MON thru THURS: 6:40
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
HARRY POTTER 6 (PG) Here are the last chances to catch the latest installment from HARRY POTTER!!
It will be a couple years before the next (and final) ones, so get down to see it now before it is gone!

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE (PG)
 (Showtimes in brackets are $5.75 'Bargain Matinees")
FRI, SAT & SUN: (3:15) - 7:15
MON thru THURS: 6:30

SPECIAL NOTE:
Some of you were a little confused about our abbreviated schedule last week with the two "Avon movies" we offered.
Many of you have longed for us to revisit our "art house" roots, but you must please also bear in mind that with that type of film comes reduced showtimes and fewer days of operation.
A lot of you may recall for the first 5 years of our existence we were only open on weekends!
Please check our showtimes VERY carefully!
We are going to start bringing in more of the art & indy films, but, they will play in a whole different manner than when we play a big mainstream movie. Luckily, the Twin theaters next door to the main Avon are capable of operating independently, and we can choose when to tailor our operational hours to fit the films we are playing.

BOTTOM LINE: If you want the "art & indy" films back, you need to not procrastinate and get down there when we play them!
They will not hang around very long if you don't!
ALWAYS CALL OUR HOTLINE (422-8151) TO VERIFY SHOWTIMES!!

WHAT'S GOING ON WITH "THE INFORMANT" ?? You'll see it here first! There are big plans in the making, but we need to get a better handle on exactly when it is going to be available to the smaller markets. I know, we all say "But it was filmed here!"---believe me, that is not something that is primary in Warner Bros mind when they set the distribution.
Just trust that there are good people here in Decatur that are doing all they can to get in on the national release date in September.
If this does not fly, look for it in early October!

Stay tuned for more on this!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
SEASON PASSES ARE COMING BACK!! Look for them for a limited time only by mid-August!!
We will only sell a limited amount, so make your plans to get yours as soon as we have them. They won't last long, and, we are not going to sell beyond a certain number of them this time. We need to better control them, so we will be limiting the number available. DON'T DELAY!!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
At this point, we are still planning on being closed next week for Decatur Celebration! (Aug. 7th)

We endured the thronging hordes and lack of parking for many years, but, we saw an opportunity this year where we could actually escape from the veritable occupying forces invading downtown.

So, as we are saying: "Enjoy Celebration! We're on vacation!"

We will re-open on Friday, Aug. 14th with a whole new slate of films!!

Come See Me Soon!
