NIGHTS IN RODANTHE  (PG13) It's about time for an Autumn romance! This much-awaited filming of the Nicholas Sparks novel will be a favorite for many of you. As you may know, Sparks wrote "The Notebook", which became a huge word-of-mouth movie hit, and "Message in a Bottle", which is also considered a good example of the romance genre. Now, we have RICHARD GERE and DIANE LANE as two people from different walks of life who meet at the most crucial time for both of them. This will be a really good movie!
By the success of THE WOMEN, MAMMA MIA! and SEX AND THE CITY at the Avon, it is obvious that a large portion of the audiences are yearning for films that have people of a more mature & identifiable age group.
(In other words, this ain't a mall-rat movie about teenagers!)
As the leaves start to fall, what better than to curl up with a great romantic movie to usher in the Holiday season?

EAGLE EYE  (PG13) When was the last time we had an intelligent action-thriller that wasn't just comic book fodder for the multiplexes? The Bourne movies? I am at a memory loss right now to pinpoint it, but I know when the NEXT one will be here! Young rising star, SHIA LeBEOUF (Indiana Jones' son in last Summer's new installment) and always-groovy BILLY BOB THORNTON, plus foxy MICHELLE MONAGHAN (from GONE, BABY GONE) in a thriller that has a preview that will glue you to your seat! This looks to be a real fun time!

THE WOMEN (PG13) So, here is the last week of this film that has packed the women of Decatur in!
When you have MEG RYAN, ANNETTE BENING, BETTE MIDLER, DEBRA MESSING and just about every other actress over 35 in Hollywood (including CANDICE BERGEN and CLORIS LEACHMAN) it is bound to attract attention from the ladies!
(I think many of them want see how well some of these veteran actresses are holding up!)
This ENDS WEDNESDAY, so get those hush-puppies moving!

AVON SPECIAL EVENTS CALENDAR
(by no means complete or final)

OCT. 24th and 25th at MIDNIGHT: THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (done "Avon style" with props, costumes, the Millikin Shadow Cast performing with the film and pure insanity). Tickets available in about two weeks.

NOV. 13th thru DEC. 18th: BOGART MOVIES CLASS! That's right, for 5 Thursdays (skipping Nov. 27th for Thanksgiving) we will feature some of the best films of Humphrey Bogart in our Richland-at-the-Avon film class setting. Enrollment forms are available in our lobbies now!

DEC. 1st: Movie Star BRUCE CAMPBELL returns to the Avon for a 3rd time with his new movie, "My Name is Bruce".
This will be a sell-out, and tickets go on sale around Nov. 1st.

DEC. ???: FREE CHRISTMAS MOVIES!! (I don't know which ones yet! Suggestions??)

NEW YEAR'S EVE: Our annual count-down to the New Year! What film will we play? Will it be THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA again?? Or, will it be some other "special" presentation? Some have mentioned bringing back MAMMA MIA!, some have said HAIRSPRAY or CHICAGO, and some have said they would like to see TITANIC again on the Avon's huge screen.
