Spend a Night with Bruce Campbell

Tickets are still available to see actor Bruce Campbell live screening his new film, My Name is Bruce at the Avon Theatre in Decatur. You know Bruce. Cult and B-movie star of such films as Bubba Ho-Tep and The Evil Dead series has appeared in everything from the Spider-Man movies and Fargo to TV shows like Ellen and the X-Files. He's also the author of two books, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-Movie Actor and How to Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. Presently, Bruce can be seen on USA Network in his new TV show, Burn Notice, about two ex-spies who help out ordinary citizens after being burned by the US government. 

            This will be Bruce's third time to the Avon, and be a tour off-shoot from major cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles to promote his new movie. The award-winning actor re-routed his tour to especially visit the Avon, and this will be his only stop in downstate Illinois. The Avon is no stranger to major movie stars gracing its stage. Earlier this year, actor Gary Sinise appeared to promote the film Brothers at War with director Jake Rademacher to a sold-out screening. Maybe it's the atmosphere, or maybe it's the people, but the Avon is a special place and newcomers quickly catch on to its independent appeal. 

            My Name is Bruce stars Campbell as himself, and what happens when a small town calls upon The Evil Dead star to vanquish a real-life Chinese war deity invading their town. Campbell is all for it until he realizes the threat is unscripted! 

            The Avon's owner and manager, Skip Huston, predicts tickets for My Name is Bruce will sell out, too, based on prior visits from the star. When Bruce first appeared at the Avon five years ago, Huston reports they had to turn away over 200 people who came to buy tickets the day of the show. 

Like previous years, Bruce will hang back after the screening of his movie for some Q and A. If you know Bruce, then you know hilarity is to be expected. 

            A ticket for a night with Bruce Campbell is $20. Seating is not reserved, so show up early with your ticket the day of the event, December 1st. Doors will open approximately one hour before the movie starts at 8:00pm.
