FRED CLAUS (PG) Ok, so I can hear all of you saying "It's too early for a Holiday Movie!", but you would be wrong-o on that count...
One of the biggest Holiday hits of recent years was the Will Ferrell movie "ELF", and it was released at this very same time of year.
This tale of Santa's wayward older brother has all the elements to be a Holiday favorite for the whole family! Always-popular Vince Vaughn and one of the best character actors in recent years, Paul Giamatti (as Santa!) with a great supporting cast including Kevin Spacey! Great big jolly fun!
Running time: 1 hr. 56 min. not including pre-show content. BUT,NO COMMERCIALS!!!

BEE MOVIE (PG) Many of our patrons who saw this last week were surprised at how much of the humor was of more of a mature nature. This is not to imply there is any smuttiness or off-color content, but some genuine wit that is over-the-heads of the kids. Everyone also discovered this is a very funny and endearing little film too!
Running time: 90 minutes not including pre-show content. BUT, NO COMMERCIALS!!

AMERICAN GANGSTER (R) So, by now you all know what a blockbuster this one turned out to be! I was telling everyone all weekend long this would win the "Best Picture" Oscar, and I stand by that! An incredibly absorbing film featuring two of the greatest actors in the world, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, and a supporting cast that is superb.
Running time: 2 hrs. 40 minutes (you'll never feel it) not including pre-show content. BUT, NO COMMERCIALS!!
AMERICAN GANGSTER (R)

SAT, SUN & MON: (12:00) - (3:30) - 7:00

NOTE:
We have seen a marked increase in people coming late because they assume there is a 20+ minute pre-show of inane commercials and stupid public service announcements like our erstwhile competition so insultingly subject their patrons to.
We don't know how to solve this problem other than following suit and starting to degrade our image by also showing 20 minutes of commercial trash like they do!
We do NOT want to do this!
PLEASE keep in mind, for YOUR sake and enjoyment, that the MOST we do as "pre-show content" is a classic cartoon (and not always that) and 3 or 4 previews. That is IT!
It is tough to have to remember all of this, so, just say to yourself: "There are NO ON-SCREEN COMMERCIALS at THE AVON!!" and maybe that will help.
We HATE to see you come in late, folks!!!
Would you rather we be like the Carmike "McTheaters" and show commercials??
We could make money by doing it, but I would have a real problem with the desecration of our presentation!!!
(Something, apparently, the "McTheaters" have no thoughts about!)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
PERSONAL NOTE:
Some of you are already aware that I have been having some health "issues" lately.
This is something that has become vitally important that I take care of as soon as I can.
I will be having surgery sometime next week, and will be away from the theater for at least 2 weeks.

In recent weeks, you may have noticed that I have only been there on weekends, with Susan and Ashley running things on weeknights.
Please be advised that I am very much involved "behind-the-scenes", and there is nothing happening in "Avonia" that I am not fully made aware of.

There is no place I would rather be than THE AVON, and I will be back there very soon!!

AND, I will be there this weekend!!
Soooooooo,

Come and See Me!!
