NOTE TO AVON FANS: This is the time of year when we always take a couple weeks to play "catch-up". We bring in some of the movies that did not play The Avon originally, but that we think should have! What this usually results in is a whole lot of movies playing at very limited showtimes. PLEASE NOTE THE TIMES CAREFULLY!! This week and next, we will be clearing the boards for the beginning of the Summer movie season, and what a Summer it will be!
Movie industry experts say this will be the BIGGEST Summer in movie history!!
So come see us this weekend to see ZODIAC and/or LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA the way they need to be seen: AT THE AVON!!!
And, we have a new one that sure got some great reviews in THE LOOKOUT!

LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA (R) By popular demand, here it is finally! As we start a couple weeks of "catch-up" before the big Summer movie season begins, we bring this Best Picture Oscar-Nominated masterwork from Director Clint Eastwood! ZODIAC (R) This highly-acclaimed police procedural of how the infamous Zodiac killer of 1970's San Francisco was tracked is a real keeper! The cast includes some of our finest young male stars such as Robert Downey, Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, Anthony Edwards and Mark Ruffalo. This is NOT some mindless "slasher" film, but an intelligent and absorbing look at an era and the hunt for a killer.

THE LOOKOUT (R) Here is perhaps the definitive "overlooked" film of this year, so-far! Critics gave this very good reviews, and at least one critic called it the "Best Movie of 2007" so far! Yet, it sat with no one seeing it all over the country! See this as a combination of sorts of MEMENTO and THE HEIST, and you will be keyed in better as to what it is all about. No major stars here, but some top-notch acting and story-telling! Here's the trailer: The Lookout (2007)

MISS POTTER (PG) There are way too many of you who still have not seen this one! Let me tell you: This is the BEST movie in town! Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor with Emily Watson in the charming and enchanting bio of Beatrix Potter, the woman who wrote Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck among many others. This is fine fun for the whole family! We have not had ONE person who has not liked MISS POTTER, folks! This is the LAST WEEK for it, so you better get the lead out!!!

THE HOAX (R) You've never seen Richard Gere better than in this stylized tale of the Clifford Irving scandal of 1971-72! For those of you who do not remember it, this is about the guy who dared to fake a biography of Howard Hughes!! He collected a lot of money for it, and got in a whole bunch of trouble!! This is an excellent movie that recreates those days expertly with the fashions and the music and the sensibilities. A great supporting cast includes Alfred Molina, Hope Davis and Marcia Gay Harden. DON'T MISS IT!!

HOT DOGS ARE A HIT; but where are NACHOS???
Welllllll....It seems the Nacho machine we were waiting for, which is a brand-new design and kinda' cool, has been held up in production!! Now, we either choose another machine, or wait for the new design!
Here's the funny part: The chips and the cheese have been in-house for a month or more!
So, what to do??
Believe it or not, Nachos are the 2nd biggest-selling movie theater concession item (next to popcorn, of course) in the world, so apparently people want them pretty badly!
(Personally, Nachos work for me since I am constantly counting carbs, and, while Nachos are certainly a "bend" of that type of diet, popcorn is a definite "break"!)
I will make a "Nacho decision" after this weekend, and, who knows, you may see them in time for SPIDER-MAN 3 in early May!!_________________________________________________
